New Book Photos

Moving on feels nice. Since I finished writing Under the Aurora Sky, I officially released it (in both e-book and paperback!). I have been working on transitioning back to the story I worked on during last year’s NaNoWriMo alternative. I’ve found that I’m struggling a bit with shifting gears from Aurora to my WIP, so I took a break and decided to dig out my tabletop studio set and some props so I could photograph my books.

I really love this backdrop set for photographing small things because I don’t really have a great spot in the house to take pictures of things like my books. Our house is old, cluttered, and has been “under renovation” for about 20 years (with no end in sight, lol) so while I have great light to work with, I was struggling to find nice backgrounds.

This set comes with 10 different background sheets that are each double-sided, giving you 20 different textures/patterns/colors to choose from, which really gives you a lot of options when it comes to styling photos. You can also purchase additional color/texture backdrops on Amazon in the same size.

Grab a few small props to dress up the scene, and you’ve got it made! (Props used: Candle, Vines, Heart Hands)

It’s perfect for flat lays and stylized scenes alike!

If you’re an author who is looking for a setup that will help you take better photos of your books, I highly recommend this little tabletop photo studio.

This was the first time I’ve used my DSLR in a long time, almost a year, I think. I don’t take it out very often because usually when I do, it fills me with sadness and regret about having to close my boudoir photography studio back in 2021.

I miss all of my clients and I miss the work I did, but after all this time, I finally feel like I’ve found the path I belong on with my writing.

The response to Under the Aurora Sky has been incredible from readers and social media influencers, and I’m so very proud of how it turned out.

It was really nice to use my camera and be filled with nothing but positive feelings for once, though.

I even made sure to grab some pictures showing both of my books. I’m not sure how I’ll really use them going forward, but I love how these pictures turned out.

And now, I’m off to get back to work on my next book… I’ll share the details when I get closer to having it ready to go. Right now, it’s way too early, and so many things could still change!
